Violin Makers Association of Arizona, International Annual Competition in Tucson, Arizona

In various years, starting in 2002 and as recently as 2018, Alan received first place awards for violin, viola, cello, and string quartet for tone and workmanship. Received as well, are the Bob Wallace Award for the winner of the final playoff for tone of the highest-scoring six violins, and the Bill Barnitz Award for the instrument with the highest total of tone and workmanship scores of all instruments entered in that year.
